Teens Only Ask a Question Parents Resources

I was wondering if I could be pregnant if I had unprotected sex and my period was normal and it came on time? I took a pregnancy test after my period and it said negative is there still a chance I could be pregnant?

Dear Jessica,

While theoretically there is a chance you could be pregnant, if what you describe is accurate, meaning your period was normal and on time, the chances are that you are not pregnant.

However, if you did engage in unprotected intercourse, you may have been infected with a sexually transmitted disease and not know it. We recommend that you visit a clinic and get a check up with your partner for a few STI tests and choose a reliable form of contraception that protects against unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
