Teens Only Ask a Question Parents Resources

Okay...actually I have more than 1 question to ask. First, can you get pregnant even when you use a condom? Can you be pregnant and still have your period? When is the time when you are most likely to get pregnant? I think that's it for now. Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Dear Bunny 4 Luv,

We'll try to keep it short and sweet!

Yes, if a condom is not used correctly or breaks, then pre-lubricating fluid or semen can enter into the female's vagina and she/they can become pregnant.

Yes, a female can be pregnant and still have her period if she ovulates just before or during her period and has unprotected vaginal intercourse. Also, a female can be pregnant and have what looks like menstrual bleeding, but isn't her period - even though that is what she thinks that is what it is.

And lastly, the time a couple is most likely to become pregnant is when they don't use contraception! (Bet you were thinking we would say 14 days after the first day a female has her period! But especially in teens, the female can ovulate just about any day, and not on the 14th day like in a textbook definition of when a female is supposed to ovulate!) ANY time a fertile couple does not use contraception there is a chance of pregnancy.

Does this help?
