Teens Only Ask a Question Parents Resources

My boyfriend and I for the first time yesterday had sex. It was impulsive and we didn't use protection. He pulled out, but I know - that method is very unreliable. I have my whole life ahead of me and I know that he'll support me, but I don't want to be pregnant. My parents are pretty strict and wouldn't understand. I can't tell my friends. I told one person and she said she was disappointed. I'm so scared. Please help me!

Dear Laura,

We suggest that you visit a clinic or Planned Parenthood in your area and consider the option of Emergency Contraception. Emergency Contraception, if used up to 72 hours after intercourse, will prevent a pregnancy.

Yes, you are correct the pull-out method is not very reliable or effective, and we suggest that you do what you know you should use a reliable form of contraception.
