Teens Only Ask a Question Parents Resources

My boyfriend and I have been tested for STDs, and had a blood test for HIV and AIDS. We are both clean and I am on birth control. We are both monogamous. We don't use a condom or any other type of birth control except the pills. Considering our test results, and our use of the pill, can I get infected with STDs? Also, my boyfriend and I had sex a while ago and I was spotting a little bit after that because it was the day after the last day of my period that we had sex. Could I be infected with anything? What if I wasn't spotting and I got my period during sex? Thanks.

Dear P,

Congratulations on your thoroughness!

1)If neither partner is infected, then you cannot become infected.
2)BC Pills are highly effective at preventing pregnancy (less than a 1% chance).
